Monster Champs and Greenscreens

So here's what I've been up to the past couple days.
I've been trying to figure out how to model and rig a simple character in maya. I needed some little
pokemon looking monsters for this upcoming MonsterChamps thing we're working on so this fits perfectly.
The thing I was trying to learn with this is modeling something off of reference and making it actually look the same.
Here are a couple screenshots of the reference and the 3d model.

They're all really simple characters but that was kind of what I was going for.

Also, yesterday was spent taking apart an old loft and setting up a big ol' green screen in my bedroom. Should be exciting.

So a couple new things. I bought a new HD camera the other day and have had a little success with it. Heres the firs thing I did with it.

I'd like to redo this and make it better there are some little things that make me cringe when I watch it.

and on another note, heres something I've been working on lately. Its just a 2 second clip but if it gets finished it could be pretty cool.

great things are yet to come!

Here are some Photoshop paintings I did about a week ago. The one was for my demo reel and the other is of my girlfriend Emilee.

couple new things, some 2d stuff and a shot I did in the body mechanics class I took.
An even newer one is coming sometime once the project I've been working on gets released. Should be a month or so.

All day animation day hooray hooray hooray!

I spent most of the day working on this shot. The thing is, its not actually for anything other than that sick workaholic animation problem that I've acquired over the last couple years. Instead of a real hobby I like to torture myself with curves and spacing and graph editors.

I'm about half way done with the first half of myspline pass. I should probably get some feedback on it before i move on. Actually what I should do is finish my actual assignment for my refresher course I'm taking and then get feedback on this piece... baaahhh priorities....

Heres a little thing i did today.
took about half an hour to actually draw, then about 15 minutes playing with it in photoshop

Its so weird to think something like this would have taken so much more time not 25 years ago. Photoshop has made artists so much more lazy.
I just had a thought, but then i lost it.

Day of Drawing.

Well I spent the entire day drawing yesterday, probably 10 hours of drawing straight, and boy does my thumb hurt! Heres some stuff that came of it.
I suppose I had forgotten how much fun it was to just draw. I'll probably end up going to Fort Wayne tomorrow to pick up some better water color paints. I've just been using these old Crayola ones, I'm sure i could find better.

New Beginnings.

So Animation Mentor is so exceptionally great! My first assignment was to go out and watch the movie Wall-E, how awesome is that! My assignment for last week was to go out and sketch some people in a public place. Then pick the best one and pose Stu (the character they gave me) the best I could. I went to the mall in Fort Wayne and Borders. Heres the results.
